Why plan now?
Ultimate is growing and gaining visibility by leaps and bounds, and when a 'player-owned' sport grows this fast, it's important to ensure that it's growing in a direction that the player population as a whole can feel proud of.
What is the evidence of the growth of Ultimate (and the UPA)? The UPA has doubled its annual revenue in the last 5 years. This springs largely from a 62% increase in overall membership over 5 years (including average 55% annual growth in youth membership in the last 2 years). Since the inception of the UPA Coaching clinic program, approximately 600 individuals have attended clinics in order to share Ultimate in their local communities. College championships are on TV due to a UPA partnership with CSTV, and Ultimate has become a medal sport in the World Games - the first time Ultimate has been included on the program of an international multi-sport event.
What's this mean for me?
