UPDATE - April 2, 2008
The plan is released. The UPA again thanks everyone for making this plan a reality.

UPDATE – January 30, 2008
The Board and staff are thrilled by the interest being shown in the UPA’s Strategic Planning effort, and thank everyone for their patience as we work to synthesize the broad spectrum of tactics adopted by the Board into a clear and concise plan, along with a sequence for implementation so players can follow (and play a role in) our progress.

In the interim, here’s a snapshot of key ideas presented January 26 at the Ultimate Players and Coaches Conference in Boston, MA.

UPDATE - January 25, 2008
For the past year or so, the UPA has been working with its members on the "Ultimate Revolution," a process leading to a long-term Strategic Plan for the organization. I'm happy to announce that at the Board of Directors meeting last weekend, the Board approved a comprehensive 5-year plan that we believe is responsive to our membership, and that will significantly enhance and promote the sport of Ultimate. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff and volunteers that contributed to this massive effort - and to the thousands of you in the Ultimate community - UPA members and non-members alike, who contributed your thoughts.

Based on those decisions, we are currently hard at work developing a short document that concisely communicates the decisions that were made, and thus our vision for the organization's activities for the next 5 years. Of course, since the Board approved a plan containing approximately 50 strategic initiatives to be implemented over the next 5 years, it will take a bit of time to create the well-written, short document that our membership and the Ultimate Community more broadly deserve. We anticipate that this document will be completed by mid-February, and are excited to share it with the membership. In the meantime however, in order to avoid any miscommunication, we will not release any details on the Plan. Thank you for your patience.

Best regards,
Mike Payne
President, UPA Board of Directors

Should the UPA engage the tens of thousands of former members? If so, for what purpose? How would you like to see the UPA relate to and interact with local Ultimate organizations? What kinds of services should the UPA provide to Canada, and the rest of the world? How high a priority should credibility/legitimacy be for the UPA? Make your opinions heard at the Online forum.

UPDATE! - April 18, 2007

It will also help guide the next steps in the planning process.
