Happy end-of-winter time, folks...here we go for the 9th edition of Ultimate Chicago Sandblast. After surviving last year's rainstorm, we are guaranteed eight more rain-free events, right? For those that have not the pleasure of attending Ultimate Chicago Sandblast in the past, this is an experience not to be missed. The combination of two days of high quality ultimate and higher quality celebrating has teams coming back year after year from all over the United States. Sandblast offers two divisions, 32-team Game division focused on winning the tournament with goals, and a 16-team Spirit division where everyone wins through energy and enthusiasm that makes our sport so special. Costumes, cheers and overall spirited play. Friday night features a Welcome Party at a TBD location (sorry, not Cubby Bear again) and Saturday a huge tourney party where everything will be FREE once again. Ask anyone from past years and they may or may not remember it. Throughout the weekend, participants are showered with breakfast, lunch, player packs, physical therapy and more all INCLUDED in the very reasonable entry fee. $30 per player may seem like a lot, but again, ask anyone why they return year after year after year. You can also ask those that are unfortunately left on the 40-plus team waiting list each summer. Returning teams get priority until March 1st and open bids are processed after that for new squads.
