The team sport of Ultimate combines elements of soccer, football and basketball in a fast-paced game, played with a flying disc, where everyone is a quarterback and everyone is a receiver.

Ultimate is currently played in at least 42 countries, with programs in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Japan receiving government funding. Mixed Ultimate was a medal sport in the 2001 World Games in Japan.

It is estimated that well over 25,000 people play in organized competition worldwide and another 150,000 people play the sport informally.

There are over 500 Ultimate tournaments annually in the United States. Thousands of players also play in Ultimate leagues in virtually every major city.
