The UPA has announced the final bids for the inaugural UPA Grand Masters and Masters Women's Championships (July 11-12, 2009 in Denver, CO). The interest in this inaugural event has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to making it a great experience for all the participants. 2009 Club Championships Rostering

Online rostering is open for the 2009 UPA Club Championships. All teams competing in the Mixed,Open and Women's Divisions must roster their teams online by August 28th, 5pm MST. Masters teams rosters are due September 18th, 5pm MST. Series Guidelines and Rostering Instructions are available online for more information

College Championships via Web

Unable to attend the 2009 College Championships Finals? Video replays of the finals are now available on the College Championships web site. Catch all the action, play by play. Special thanks to UltiVillage for making this possible.

The UPA has teamed up with Freeheel Images and UltiVillage to bring fans, family and friends back home live and still images of the 2009 College Championships via the internet. Round by round highlight video clips, evening photo slideshows, photo downloads, and video coverage of the finals are hosted by the UPA and available at no charge. Division reporters Michelle Ng (Women) and Chris Spittal (Open) have posted their Previews and will be posting stories each night on the Results page, as well as live action updates via Twitter (click here for open Twitter feed and women's twitter feeds).

US Junior National Teams

Head Coaches Selected for 2010 World Junior Ultimate Championships!

The UPA is pleased to announce that Ben Van Heuvelen will be returning as the head coach of the Jr. National Open team and John Sandahl will be stepping up to coach the Girls' Jr. National team after several years as an assistant coach.The 2010 World Junior Ultimate Championships will be held in Heilbronn, Germany from August 3rd - 7th.

College Champions Crowned

The 2009 UPA College Championships are now in the books, with Carleton College defeating Colorado in the Open division, and California-Santa Barbara defeating Washington on the women's side. Check out how it all played out.

The 2009 College Awards (All-Region Teams, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year) have been posted. The Coach of the Year Award is new this year, along with 2nd Team All-Region and Freshman of the Year.

HS Easterns & Westerns

The Nathan Hale girls claimed another High School Westerns championship in thrilling fashion with a 12-11 victory over The Northwest School. In the Open Division Hopkins Hurt won their first title outlasting the South Eugene Axemen.
The Paideia girls and Pennsbury boys captured their 2nd High School Easterns championships in Lebanon, OH. Check out the results and writeups on the tournament website.

State High School Championships

The 2009 UPA State High School Championships continued this past weekend with Martinsville High School capturing the Indiana State High School Championship. Congratulations to Artesian Ultimate and to all the teams that participated.

Executive Director Changes

The UPA has announced the initiation of an immediate search for a new executive director due to the resignation of current executive director, Sandie Hammerly. Ms. Hammerly's last day as executive director will be May 31.

The application process is now closed.

Constantly seeking renewal, the UPA looks forward to new leadership in the second half of 2009. The entire sport owes Sandie Hammerly a debt of gratitude for her dedication and hard work during her tremendously successful term.

College Plan Proposals Released

The UPA is excited to release two alternative plan proposals to restructure the UPA College Division for the Ultimate community's discussion and feedback. Thanks to all the members of the Ultimate community who have been involved in the process up to this point. We look forward to continuing to work with the community to refine and implement exciting changes for College Ultimate.

The Revolution is Underway...

In response to the feedback the UPA has received regarding the recent announcement of Cultimate's Conference 1, the UPA would like to draw attention to certain elements of its strategic plan. The UPA is aware of the desire of many players to see significant changes made to college Ultimate's competitive structure. Through its planning process, the UPA identified several target areas of interest or concern including tiered play, a more formalized regular season, a revision of the UPA's current geographic/qualification structure, and opportunities to increase the legitimacy and excitement around college Ultimate. We are happy that the current interest generated by the Cultimate Conference 1 proposal is timed so well with our own efforts to begin implementing similar changes.

Tactics to address those issues are an integral part of the UPA's strategic plan, and the UPA is moving to implement those tactics. It is the UPA's priority to involve the entire Ultimate community in the planning process, not only to achieve buy-in for future plans, but to utilize the experiences and expertise of individuals and groups who have already made strides towards achieving these goals. If you would like to get involved in planning for the future of college Ultimate, please fill out an application by October 31.
