The UPA continues its tradition of providing the best College Ultimate event in the world, but this year there are a couple of twists. The UPA College Championships expands to 20 teams per division and 4 days, and the rivals of the East vs West College Alumni All-Star Showcase put aside their geographic differences to test themselves against Team USA. Check out the team.
You know you wanted to go check out the College Championships anyway. How would you like to represent your region and school one last time? How would you like a couple free nights stay at a local hotel? How would you like to get to play against not only former college stars, but against the best players in the country?
The UPA is excited about continuing with the Alumni All-Star Game tradition that was started in 2007 as a way to showcase the sport and entertain players and fans in conjunction with the College Championships, which will be held May 22-25 in Columbus, OH. On Sunday evening of the tournament, following the semi-finals, a combined team of All-Star Alumni will face off against Team USA in front of the college stars of today. The game will be part of an evening at the fields that will feature games/contests, dinner for teams participating in the College Championships, and the Callahan Award ceremony.
The Alumni All-Star team will be Mixed and consist of 16 players (8 men and 8 women). The team will represent all 8 college regions (Atlantic Coast, Central, Great Lakes, Metro East, New England, Northwest, South, Southwest). Players for these teams will be selected based on an application process. Players must not be currently eligible for the College Series. Players will be selected geographically based on where they played in the College Series while in college and a spot saved on the team for a “local” player. Selection will also be based on factors such as level of playing ability, position/type of player, and sportsmanship.
Applying players must fill out the online application form and must commit to traveling to the event for the showcase game at their own expense. The UPA will provide up to 2 nights lodging for the 16 participating players, matching uniforms (jerseys with school name on the back and shorts), and dinner at the fields on Sunday, May 24.
Team USA is the team that will be representing the United States at the 2009 World Games in Chinese Taipei in July. Read more about the event, the team, and how these players were selected on the UPA website.

The application will take 10-15 minutes to complete.
Application deadline is Thursday, April 23. Selected applicants will be notified by Friday, April 24. The team will be announced once all players have been confirmed.
