UPA Guidelines for the 2005 UPA Youth Club Championships (Experimental)

The UPA Youth Club Championships is an experimental event. The goal of this event is to provide national level competition for youth Ultimate players and encourage growth within the UPA structure at local levels. Size of league and selection to the UPA YCC

I. The league with the highest # of UPA Youth members (X0) receives a bid in the division of their choice.

II. After a team has received a bid the # of UPA Youth members in their league is reduced by 50 for the purpose of further bid allocations (X0-50 = X1)

III. The league with the highest # of UPA Youth members receives a bid in the division of their choice.

IV. If a league’s next choice is in a division that is full they will be awarded a bid in the division of their next highest choice

V. In the event that two leagues have the same # of UPA Youth members, the league that has received fewer bids will receive the next bid

a. In the event that both leagues have received the same number of bids, bid allocation will be determined by a coin flipped

VI. No league may sponsor more than one team per division

VII. This continues until all bids are allocated or until no league has more than 25 players

VIII. Players who participate in multiple leagues that are applying will count as 1/Y per league, where Y is the # of applying leagues that they participated in.

IX. Exceptions may be made for leagues with fewer UPA Youth members that represent smaller, isolated communities.
