TEAM HISTORY/SEASON RECAP
Last year at the AC Regionals, Duke crushed our hopes and
dreams of greatness (and William and Mary made sure they stayed crushed.) We
were devastated and confused, unsure of the reasons behind our loss. What had
we done wrong? Then, in October, a wise veteran player revealed unto us the
secret to winning. "Once you get two points in a row, you can't give two
points back." Of course! It was so simple, no wonder we hadn't thought
of it before. From then on, scoring more points than our opponents became the
foundation for our new winning strategies. The secret was ours! We would not
lose again.
Whether that truly is the secret to our success or not, we've had an amazing
season. Having never won a major tournament prior to this spring, AO now has
a string of first place finishes under their belt, including Queen City Tune
Up, College Terminus, College Easterns, and of course the Atlantic Coast Regionals.
We're undefeated going into Nationals with wins over Penn State, Rutgers, NC
State, Dartmouth, and Illinois. We are so happy to finally be playing in a tournament
outside of our own region. Not that there's anything wrong with our region.
Go Atlantic Coast!
