TEAM HISTORY/SEASON RECAP
Over the past several years, team effort, focus, and intensity
has propelled sMITe, the MIT Women's Ultimate team, to the top tier of women's
college ultimate. In 2002, we finished third at the UPA College Nationals, with
a scant squad of only 13. We improved last year by finishing second, losing
only to Stanford 13-15 in a grueling finals game. With few losses from last
years roster, remarkable improvement of the returning players, a crop of enthusiastic
new players, and an experienced coaching staff at the helm, we are more determined
than ever to push our limits in the national arena.
Despite the major progress our team has made over the past several years in
our offensive game, we pride ourselves on our defensive intensity. We don't
rely on individuals making huge Ds or point blocks (although they are always
fun), but work as a whole team to shut down every option for our opponents.
Look for the biggest smiles on our faces when the mark shouts "stall ten!"
and we turn it around for a quick point.
