UPA 2003 COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Notre Dame

"WOMB"
Notre Dame, IN

How they got here: 2nd in Great Lakes Region

Scouting Report #1

Notre Dame will be the sleeper hit of College Nationals. Led by the Callahan hopeful Mia Stephen, most teams will be undoubtedly impressed with this quiet and unassuming team from the Great Lakes Region. Flanking Mia will be Womb's other giant strength: the receivers. These disc-hungry, dread-locked and camo-draped women will sacrifice their bodies time and time again to save the disc and thwart that dreaded turnover. Mia can break any mark, has all the throws, and she will find the outstretched super-glued hands of her loyal receivers without fail. She will also stifle the opposing team's best players with in-your-face hand-blocks and countless layout Ds. You'd better start finding yourself another go-to girl if Mia marks up on your #1 - which she will.

This will be the first time in three or four years that Womb will be heading to College Nationals. Their roster is relatively small, but what they lack in numbers they make up for and then some in heart and spirit. If they bring their 'A' game to Austin, they'll have no problem representing the region to the fullest. They'll need strong mental toughness and even stronger legs to keep up with the Stanfords and the MITs but they'll surely show the ultimate community that they wholeheartedly deserved their bid to 2003 College Nationals.

Scouting Report #2

Womb may look like scrappy looking girls on the outside but underneath that camo' they are fierce competitors. Womb is led by Callahan nominee Mia Stephen(#9), who is everything she is hyped to be. She will be there breaking the mark on O, and laying it out on D. They are a tough team and will not go down without a fight. They are a smart team that adapted well at regionals to different types of defenses that were thrown on them.
