UC Berkeley

"Pie Queens"
Berkeley, CA

How they got here: 1st in the Northwest Region

Scouting Report #1

The Berkeley Pie Queens are a well coached, spirited, talented team that has both strong offense and defense. The Pie Queens are great in the air and have a dangerous deep game both in transition and off set plays.

Rowan Sill #88 has amazing hucks and fast receivers in Courtney Fogel #22 and Cody Williams #55. Rowan Sill, Kath Ratcliff #13, Andrea Jung #8, and Heidi Clemens are a dangerous set of handlers who all break the mark very well. A very quick team, Berkeley plays intense defense whether it's a tight four person cup, or an all out person de. Cody Williams is a solid chaser in the cup, Lindsay Lowe #99 is an aggressive, smart defender, and Andrea Jung is intense with great layouts on defense.

The Pie Queens are peaking now, the most important part of the season, handing Stanford Superfly their first loss of the season in the Northwest Regional finals. A force to be reckoned with, the Pie Queens will be a tough team to beat at Nationals.

Scouting Report #2

This team is all about huck and play D. And for them, it really works. There's a lot of experience on this team, but their core offense comes from only a second year player, Rowan Sill. This girl has all the throws and poise of a seasoned veteran. She's patient, she can break any mark, and she can slice her way through any zone. And the hucks on this team, oh the hucks. With speedy savvy receivers like Cody Williams to reel them in, they are looking for long bombs all day. If they don't come down with it, they're right there to play D.

This is a deep, athletic team, and they have a lot of fun. They're fast, scrappy and energetic. It's hard not to get caught up in all of the excitement of the Pie Queens. The play because they love to run, huck, and lay out - and they do all three of those very very well.
