UPA 2003 COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

University of Illinois

"Fist"
Urbana-Champaign, Illinois

How they got here: 2nd in Great Lakes Region

Scouting Report

Illinois plays a very solid game, but are obviously very beatable. Watch their defense -- common sets include a clam to man transition. Beating the clam with smart throws and patience. Don't play stupid and you will beat this team -- good looks, constant movement, etc. #17 Nathan "Nate" Bosscher and #23 Dan Kang have some good throws, as does #20 Nick McDuffee, and there are about fifty 6'2" blond receivers, sort of like the German national soccer team. Apparently they don't have a single player under 5'9". That is scary on paper, but just shut down their hucks. This is a faceless army, for sure, but not a Stanford. Watch for the iso stack.
