How they got here:
3rd in New England Region
Nobody expected first-time qualifiers Dartmouth to make it this far, and already accusations of "weakest team ever at Nationals" are being bandied about, but exciting double game point wins over Tufts, Harvard and Wesleyan and a big win over UMass at regionals must count for something.
Dartmouth always has hot-throwing, hard-to-cover handlers, and this year is no exception. Look for John "Mots" Motsinger (#9), Andrew "Coco" Fisher (#13), Aaron Nutt (#25) and Dan "Peanut" Perell (#00) to keep advancing the disc until they can get it to one of their many fast downfield receivers. In years past Dartmouth has been known to live (and die) by the huck, but in their elimimation games at regionals they demonstrated the ability and willingness to work the disc patiently up the field. Dartmouth has been known to use a spread formation on occasion, creating space down the middle of the field either for their cutters or for a handler weave. Defensively, Dartmouth will play zone on occasion but will mostly go man, enabling them to use their overall team athleticism to get the turnover.
Dartmouth's enthusiasm and resiliency carried them to Nationals, but unfortunately may not help them progress any farther through a difficult pool of Carleton, Texas, and Colorado--all are #1 seeds from their respective regions, and all have much more recent experience at Nationals and with inter-regional competition in general.
