Eight years ago, a few strong women from Athens, GA finally got tired of playing with the guys and formed their own college women's team to represent the University of Georgia. They could not have known at the time that their team would quickly become a dynasty, going to Nationals every year of its existence, convincingly winning their section for the past six years, winning three out of the past five Regionals and seizing the highly coveted National Championship in 2001.
While the sport of women's ultimate has grown by leaps and bounds, the HoDawgs have managed to keep pace, continually filling their rosters with experienced vets who are more than willing to pass on their knowledge to athletic and eager rookies. The Georgia HoDawgs of today are built upon the foundations laid by Linus, Jami, Mel, Kat, Ev, Jess, KJ, Amanda, 'Gela and even Will, as well as every other beautiful and strong woman that has ever donned a HoDawgs jersey. Every time we step on the field, we aim to honor that sacred tradition of competitive play, indisputable athleticism, unwavering spirit and unconditional love.
This year, the Georgia HoDawgs have competed in tournaments all over the nation including the Stanford Invitational, Yale Cup, Terminus, Ultimaxxx and the Queen City Tune-up. Clearly these tournaments helped the team reach its fullest potential as we won both Sectionals and Atlantic Coast Regionals in order to earn a bid to Nationals.
And as always... We have vision, ambition, and damn good field sense. We have heart, spirit, love, and really great bodies. We are huckers, sprinters, defenders, and contenders. We are Woman. We are Ultimate. We are HoDawgs.
