Leadbelly was founded in the early '80s by a few students at Ohio State. However, it was not until the mid '90s when several students including former and current coaches Ryan Leard and Jeff Kula got Leadbelly on its feet again. Along with alums Rick Russel, Kevin Fennessey, Jim McGrath, Kevin Reichert, and Mike Boeckl Leadbelly was growing into very good team. Then in 2000, Leadbelly won their first sectional title and never looked back. They made their first Nationals in 2001 after getting 2nd in the Great Lakes region. This season Leadbelly has had its ups and downs like most teams but this year it ended on a great note. After winning their 4th sectional title in a row, Leadbelly won its first ever regional title in Oberlin, Ohio. With a number of fifth year seniors coming back and developing underclassmen, Leadbelly should be strong for years to come.
