The Dartmouth Pain Train (woo-woo), formerly known as the Dartmouth Pirates in the fall and Dartmouth Ultimate in past years, is going to Nationals for the first time in its 25-year history. Inspired by Terry Tate's "office linebacker" antics, this year's unique blend of scrappiness and intimidating trashtalking took the PT to a third place finish in the Northeast region. Though Reebok has shown no interest in endorsement negotiations, Dartmouth plans to single-handedly bring Triple T onto the ultimate scene and shock the country with unprecedented hard-hitting tackles and senseless banter. If that doesn't work there's always the land shark...
Dartmouth traveled to San Diego this year for President's Day and to Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia for Spring Break. All these tournaments provided much needed outdoor ultimate action as Hanover (our dear home) was under a thick blanket of New Hampshire snow until mid-April. Though Dartmouth's showing at Yale Cup was less than spectacular, it provided the necessary motivation to kick things into high gear for the start of the College Series. The Pain Train cruised through a weak Sectionals tournament and came out hungry at Regionals. Dartmouth went 5-2 on the weekend avenging both their losses to Harvard and UMass when it mattered most.
Look out, Austin...the Pain Train's comin to town, baby.
